Australia’s top rated NBN providers in the 2021 Mozo People’s Choice Awards
At a time when many Australians are working from home and spending more time than ever indoors, having fast and reliable internet can make all the difference to one’s quality of life. But it can be hard to figure out which NBN providers offer top-notch broadband service without some trial and error.
The 2021 Mozo People’s Choice Awards are a way around this. Now in their 12th year, these awards survey real Australians about how highly they rate their household services, including NBN providers.
Unlike the Mozo Experts Choice NBN Awards, where our experts use data analysis to determine the best value broadband plans, the People’s Choice Awards are based on the attitudes of everyday people, with 2,132 individuals participating and rating 89 NBN plans in total this year.
“The basic NBN service is pretty similar, no matter which provider you go with. What really differentiates each provider is how responsive they are when you do have a problem, and whether their service meets your expectations and is up to scratch in a practical sense,” said Mozo Banking Expert, Peter Marshall.
“This is where knowing actual people’s experiences of a NBN service becomes really valuable.”
Let’s take a look at which NBN providers came out on top in the 2021 People’s Choice Awards:
Aussie Broadband
Awards: Outstanding Customer Satisfaction, Connection Quality, Excellent Service & Support and Most Recommended
Boasting an already stellar record of winning in every Mozo People’s Choice NBN Award category in both 2019 and 2020, Aussie Broadband has matched its previous successes with yet another home run this year.
The Victoria-based telco company took home Mozo awards across all four NBN categories. Here’s what each of these wins mean:
- Outstanding Customer Satisfaction: Customers thought Aussie Broadband went above and beyond their expectations.
- Connection Quality: They believed the NBN service it offers is speedy and reliable.
- Excellent Service & Support: Customers rated Aussie Broadband highly in terms of how accessible and helpful it was to seek support for technical, billing or connection problems. Marshall says its local customer service is a big reason for this, with a call centre based in Geelong and domestic staff who have a close understanding of the issues that the customer may be facing.
- Most Recommended: Finally, they said that Aussie Broadband follows through on its promises and delivers a service great enough that they would recommend it to family and friends.

Awards: Outstanding Customer Satisfaction, Connection Quality and Excellent Service & Support
Internode is proving that you don’t need to be a big household name to offer a top rated NBN service.
On top of its multiple People’s Choice wins in 2020, the Adelaide-based broadband provider earned another three Mozo awards this year. Survey respondents said they were highly satisfied with Internode’s service, both in terms of customer support and internet connection quality.

Award: Connection Quality
If your existing internet is always dropping out on you, then Dodo may be worth a look, as customers just gave the broadband provider’s connection quality two thumbs up.
And it’s not just your average Australian whom Dodo has impressed, with the Melbourne-based provider’s NBN 50 plan also taking home a trophy in the recent 2020 Mozo Experts Choice NBN Awards.

For the second year running, telco company iPrimus has taken home a Mozo award for Connection Quality. As with other winners in this category, this is a major feat indicating they’re top of the game when it comes to giving customers the internet speed they need for tasks like bingeing Netflix or making video calls uninterrupted.

TPG’s subsidiary iiNet joined the Mozo People’s Choice Awards’ wall of fame this year by scoring a win in the Connection Quality category. In other words, customers were pleased with how fast and reliable its broadband service is.
