Frequent flyer junkies have met their match with the Frequent Flyer Black Credit Card from ANZ, which took out a 2023 Mozo Experts Choice Award for best Premium Card Benefits.
Cardholders will be able to earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 for the first $7,500 spent in a statement period. Beyond that amount, you can still score 0.5 points per $1 in each statement period. For extra joy, you'll get a bonus 130,000 Qantas Points when you spend $5,000 on eligible purchases in the first three months.
New card. Limited time. Spend and eligibility criteria, T&Cs, fees and charges apply (including an annual fee, currently $425).
The ANZ Frequent Flyer Black comes with a $370 annual card fee as well as a $55 annual reward program fee. Thankfully these fees are balanced by some eye-catching inclusions for the frequent flyer and big spender. For starters, if you're a new Qantas Frequent Flyer member, you won't have to pay the one-off joining fee, saving you $99.50.
When it comes to points, for the first $7,500 you spend each statement period, you'll earn 1 Qantas Point for every $1 you spend. After you hit that spending limit, you'll only earn 0.5 points per $1 afterwards.
Get a bonus 90,000 Qantas Points when you spend $5,000 on eligible purchases in the first three months, plus $200 cashback. And if you keep the card for at least twelve months you could get another 40,000 bonus points.
You'll get two la-di-da Qantas Club Lounge visits each year, perfect for when you just want to kick back and relax after a long flight. There's also plenty of premium features - including international and domestic travel insurance and personal concierge.
Shopaholics can rest easy with a 12 month extended warranty for most major purchases. You'll also get purchase protection insurance against theft, loss and accidental damage on most purchases. Bargain hunters, let's not forget a guaranteed pricing scheme helping you to hunt down the best price on your purchases made in Australia.
You'll also get awesome Visa entertainment options, providing you with access to special events, exclusive merchandise packages and home entertainment products.
Keep in mind, this is for someone who pays off their credit card in full each statement period due to the high 20.99% standard interest rate but you do get up to 55 interest-free days. Plus if you are looking to apply for this prestigious piece of plastic, there is a $15,000 minimum credit requirement. Finally, if you make purchases overseas you'll have to pay the 3% foreign exchange margin.
There are a few things you need to tick off the list to be eligible for the ANZ Frequent Flyer Black, such as you must be over 18 and a permanent Australian resident or a non-permanent resident with more than 9 months remaining on your Visa. But primarily you have to love jet-setting or shopping...or both!
While you have the flexibility to add up to nine additional ANZ Frequent Flyer Black Credit Cardholders to your account - Uncle Bob and Aunty Fanny will love it - there's an additional $65 card fee.

Just warning you all off applying for this credit card with ANZ. The process will take over a month and you still will be no closer to getting your credit card. Their credit card team is based in India so you'll be lucky if they're able to get through to you and if they do, their phone lines are really bad. You are not able to contact them back directly, only phone a 1800 number where you will be put on hold then the operator will email them and ask them to call you again. They ask for the same information over and over again. For me, 34 texts and emails later, still no credit card. I had to cancel my application and applied for an AMEX frequent flyer card which was approved online in 5 minutes. Trust me, it's not worth the hassle, go with another card to get the points. I complained and got back a really lame response back from them. Do yourself a huge favour and avoid this bank at all costs.
