Let's start with the basics. The Bank of Melbourne’s Vertigo Card features an ongoing purchase rate of 13.99% (many cards charge 20% or more), and there's a comfortable 55-day interest free period on purchases for cardholders who pay off their monthly balance in full by the due date each month.

On top of that, your wallet will be happier given that the annual card fee is a relatively low $55 - and it's even waived for the first year! In terms of other fees, if you do make a late payment there is a $15 late payment charge though.

When it comes to making payments, the Bank of Melbourne Vertigo card is a Visa card, so you'll be able to use it anywhere Visa is accepted around the globe. The card also has PayPass functionality for payments under $100 and Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are all available.

On top of those features, new cardholders who successfully apply before 24 February, 20222, can choose between two special offers.

  • Balance transfer offer: First up is the 0% p.a balance transfer rate for 32 months (0% BT fee) which could be a helpful feature for anyone wanting to pay off any existing debt. Just bear in mind that if you still have debt left on the card after that 32-month period, it will be charged the cash advance rate of 21.49%.
  • Purchase rate offer: Alternatively, cardholders can choose to forgo interest for 18 months thanks to the 0% p.a. purchases rate offer. Once that 18-month period is over though the intro purchase rate will revert to the normal purchase rate of 13.99%.
