Now in their seventh year, the Mozo Experts Choice Awards provide a platform to highlight products in the marketplace we believe offer great value to Australians.
We’ve been acknowledging the best financial services products since 2014 under the Mozo Experts Choice Awards program, helping Australians to find the best products to manage their money. We have recently started extending the program, using our expertise in research, data analysis and comparison to assess some of the places that Australians spend their money. Scooping up a pile of awards for Price, Product Range and Shopping Experience, category stand out and back to back winner for two years running, Dan Murphy's takes home the 2021 Online Alcohol Retailer of the Year crown.
In our analysis, Dan Murphy’s pricing was consistently cheaper across all three product categories (spirits, beer and wine) and they also received top marks for their extensive product range, ordering experience and delivery options. A very well deserved awards win and title. Congratulations!

Product Range matters, particularly when Aussies like to know what is available out there, whether it’s a classic spirit or the newest craft beer varietal on the market. To determine the winners in our product range category, we compiled a list of every alcoholic product listed for sale on each retailer’s website. We took into account the category, brands, variety and size options of each product to determine which online retailers had the widest range of options. Here’s our winner’s list for 2021.
From the classic Australian brews to the burgeoning craft beer scene Australians’ love of beer is well-known. With the growth in popularity of online shopping, we sought out to find the retailer that offers the best range of options for Australians when buying beer online. This is a new award for 2021 and congratulations goes to our inaugural winner, Beer Cartel.
A great online shopping experience can be the difference between a full shopping cart or giving up in frustration. When determining the winners for this award category our judges looked as three aspects of the online shopping experience: ordering, delivery and support. From the 31 online alcohol retailers eligible for this award, a big round of applause goes to our 2021 Award winners.

Whether you love a glass of red, white or sparkling, you want choice. For this award, we looked at the range of wines offered by each retailer, comparing brand, variety and size options. Our analysis showed that if you’re looking for the most extensive range, these are your go-to sites.
Everyone wants a great online shopping experience, but not every site hits the mark.
To find the wine retailers that are doing things right, we compared retailers websites on the ordering, delivery and support process. The award for best overall shopping experience for online wine purchasing goes to The Wine Collective (check out their range now).

We don’t require retailers to ‘enter’ our awards; instead we research the market to identify as wide a range of Australian retailers as we can. But we won’t have captured every retailer in the market.
Our final list comprised 31 online retailers. To see which retailers we compared please see our methodology report.
For our 2021 awards, we did not include wine retailers who require a regular subscription and we excluded mixed-case wines, as these do not allow a like-for-like comparison. We ignored physical store presence and click and collect services as these awards consider online purchases for delivery only.
The Mozo Experts Choice Awards analysis is overseen by AJ Duncanson, Mozo’s Data Services Director. AJ is a data scientist and actuary, and has worked in financial services and product comparison for almost three decades. Together with our Product Data Manager, Peter Marshall, the team has over 50 years of financial services experience.
