How your personal finances may change under Labor

With the new Labor government comes new proposals – but how could it impact your finances? Well, most changes will aim to tackle the cost of living crisis, including changes to childcare subsidies and housing.

“We’ve done a lot of work already when it comes to savings. But there will be much more work to be done,” said new Federal Treasurer, Jim Chalmers to the ABC. 

“And so the priority in those early briefings, as we get ready for a Budget in October, is how do we responsibly begin to deal with those big challenges?"

Qantas & Zip partner up for Buy Now Pay Later flights

With the world opening up and people embarking on international travel post-COVID, Qantas and Zip Co. have announced a new partnership. Customers will now be able to purchase international and domestic Qantas flights via the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platform.

On top of this, both new and existing Zip customers can now link their Qantas Frequent Flyer account in the Zip app to earn Qantas Points on eligible everyday spending through Zip Rewards. 

Eligible Zip and Qantas Frequent Flyer customers can earn:

  • 3,000 points when they sign up, link their Zip account and complete their first transaction
  • 1 point for every $3 spent on eligible flights on Qantas.com with Zip
  • 500 points each time they reach their Zip Rewards goal in the Zip app.

Help! The student loan index is set to rise by 550%

Sick of hearing about the cost of living crisis? Then block your ears! Thanks to inflation, Aussie students will see their HECS-HELP debt rise from 0.6%  to 3.9% on the 1st of June 2022.

New Mozo research found that based on the average HECS-HELP debt amount of roughly $23,280, this would mean a $768 increase in the amount owed due to the recent Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase of 2.9% to 5.1%.

Aussies using Buy Now Pay Later for its convenience

New Mozo research has revealed that 82% of Aussie Buy Now Pay Later users use BNPL when online shopping due to its convenience.

Survey respondents admitted it’s more convenient to log in to their Buy Now Pay Later account than to enter credit or debit card details.
