Amazon Prime now costs more: How does it compare to other streaming services?
Until now, Amazon Prime has been one of the lowest costing major subscription services at just $6.99 per month.
However, TV fanatics will be upset to hear that Amazon has just announced that it’s increasing its price by $3 per month to $9.99 from June.
Ultimately $3 a month isn’t much. The subscription does include access to Amazon Prime Video, fast Prime delivery and free international delivery from Amazon.
So, more importantly, how does $9.99 per month compare with other streaming services?
Cost comparison
Streaming service | Cheapest price per month |
Amazon Prime | $9.99 (from June 2023) |
Netflix | Basic with ads: $6.99 Basic plan: $10.99 |
Stan | Basic plan: $10 |
Binge | Basic plan: $10 |
Disney+ | $13.99 |
Paramount+ | $8.99 |
BritBox | $8.99 |
Hayu | $6.99 |
Shudder | $6.99 |
Overall, even with the price increase, Amazon Prime still costs about the same, if not less than the other big streaming platforms such as Netflix and Disney+.
