World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic has officially been released worldwide.

For those who don’t know, World of Warcraft is an immensely popular online game where you create a persona in a fantasy world and make friends, battle monsters, and obtain ultimate glory.

The World of Warcraft Classic games, like the Wrath of the Lich King, are re-releases of the most beloved story arcs released in early 2000.

World of Warcraft’s Executive Producer Holly Longdale says that the re-release is a replica of the 2008 original with some quality of life improvements. Story and layout wise, nothing has changed, because she wants players to relive the magic once more and create new memories.

For many, Wrath of the Lich King is like coming back home.

In this story, players explore the continent of Northrend–home of the Lich King Arthas and his undead legion– to discover secrets in the icy region. There, they will join forces to take the lich king down - or prevent his demise.

If you’re new to the world of MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role playing games), Wrath of the Lich King could be your entryway to the World of Warcraft. And you won't be alone: in the Oceanic server there are more than 14,000 active players in September, according to demographics tracker Iron Forge.

What internet speed do I need for World of Warcraft?

To play World of Warcraft, you’ll need access to the internet. If you don’t have internet download speeds of at least 512 kbps and at least 40MB of data per hour your playing experience could be laggy, which is never fun.

The last thing you want is to be in the middle of a massive raid with your character not being able to cast a spell because your internet can’t keep up! Let alone being killed and losing all your items because you’re stuck in lag.

With faster internet speeds, your gameplay should be smooth sailing, and you won't be the reason why the dethroning of the Lich King fails.

No need to panic if you don’t know your internet speeds: if you can stream Netflix without any issues, chances are playing World of Warcraft shouldn’t be an issue.

However, if you’re a big gamer and constantly downloading new games monthly, it might be worth getting an unlimited internet plan, especially if you’re not the only one in your household playing online games.
