Australia’s best super funds in 2021
Superannuation, is a word that will raise a pang of guilt for many Australians. That’s because we all know how important it is, but for many of us, it’s a part of financial life we don’t dedicate enough thought (or time) towards.
Our choice of super can make a huge difference to the amount of money we have come retirement though. So whatever stage of working life you’re at, if you’re thinking about looking for a new place to grow your superannuation you’ll probably be interested in some of the highest rated funds around.
And that’s exactly what the 2021 Mozo People’s Choice Awards have revealed!
For the awards, Mozo commissioned research firm Ipsos to run a survey in which 2,712 Australians were asked to share their opinions on their various super providers. In total, 53 different superannuation funds were rated.
So which super funds do Aussies rate the best? We’ve wrapped up all the 2021 winners and the categories they won in below.
Outstanding Customer Satisfaction
For the Outstanding Customer Satisfaction award category, Australians were asked to rate their superannuation funds based on the overall satisfaction they experienced. Four funds were rated as going above and beyond the norm in this respect: Care Super, Unisuper, QSuper and Australian Catholic Superannuation.
It’s easy to forget about super fees, but they can certainly add up over the decades. Award recipients in the Competitive Fees category were those rated highest by their customers for offering competitive fees and charges on their investments. This year there were two winners in this category: Unisuper and Australian Catholic Superannuation.
Unisuper and Aware Super came out on top in the Investment Choices category. That’s because both superannuation funds were rated the best when it came to providing plenty of investment choices to match the different life-stages, risk-tolerance and diversification needs of their customers.
You might not realise it, but most super funds offer different types of insurance for their members including life insurance, TPD insurance and income protection insurance. That’s why the Insurance Cover award category recognises the institutions whose suite of insurance is most highly regarded by customers. This year, the award winners in this category were Australian Catholic Superannuation and HESTA.
Getting to grips with the details outlined in your superannuation isn’t always simple, which is why our Clear Information awards highlighted the super funds which were rated by customers as displaying investment information in a ‘clear and consistent manner.’ Australian Catholic Superannuation and Care Super were this year's top performers in this category.
When it comes to money, trust in an institution is likely to be one of the most important factors for a lot of people. The Highly Trusted award category aims to recognise just that, with Care Super and Australian Catholic Superannuation named by their customers as being the two most highly regarded funds in this area.
Last but not least, as part of the awards Australians were asked to rate how likely they would be to recommend their superannuation funds to their friends or family. There were four 2021 Mozo Experts Choice Award winners in this category: QSuper, Unisuper, Australian Catholic Superannuation and Australian Ethical Super.
